Click for more info.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia Water held two community meetings in the Northeast in late August to talk about upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/documents_and_data\/cso_long_term_control_plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green City, Clean Waters<\/a> projects. Both projects will bring green infrastructure tools that manage stormwater to neighborhood recreation areas\u2014the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&#038;rct=j&#038;q=&#038;esrc=s&#038;source=web&#038;cd=1&#038;cad=rja&#038;uact=8&#038;sqi=2&#038;ved=0CB8QFjAAahUKEwiDwaaZwO_HAhUDlYAKHX7wA1I&#038;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.phila.gov%2Ffindafacility%2FRecCenterDetails.aspx%3Fid%3D803&#038;usg=AFQjCNHcACj1iipWFFdYQUTOK0_YNzi4Kw&#038;bvm=bv.102537793,d.eXY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Max Myers Playground<\/a> at Busleton and Magee avenues and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phila.gov\/parksandrecreation\/findafacility\/findrecreationarea.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moss Park<\/a> at Torresdale and Cheltenham avenues.<\/p>\n<p>The Max Myers meeting was held Aug. 21 and covered plans for improvements to the park area and nearby streets that include two <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/tools\/rain_garden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rain gardens<\/a> and a <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/tools\/infiltration_storage_trench\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stormwater storage basin<\/a> beneath an existing baseball diamond. In addition to managing stormwater from the surrounding streets to address sewer overflows, the rain gardens will beautify the park with landscaping that includes plants and shrubs. Park users will also get a brand-new baseball diamond after the storage basin is complete.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.phila.gov\/parksandrecreation\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia Parks and Recreation<\/a> is a partner for both projects, and <a href=\"http:\/\/takebackyourneighborhood.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Take Back Your Neighborhood<\/a><em>(Sorry, this content is no longer available)<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/phlcouncil.com\/council-members\/councilwoman-maria-d-quinones-sanchez-7th-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Councilwoman Quinones-Sanchez<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/phlcouncil.com\/council-members\/councilman-bobby-henon-6th-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Councilman Bobby Henon<\/a> helped spread word about the Max Myers meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The Moss Park meeting was held Aug. 24, and current plans include managing stormwater from nearby streets through the use of a <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/tools\/stormwater_tree_trench\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tree trench<\/a> featuring 16 new trees. As currently planned, the project will include replacing a weathered sidewalk along Ditman Street. The Moss improvements also include two new <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/tools\/rain_garden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rain gardens<\/a>, a new path, and an underground <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/tools\/infiltration_storage_trench\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stormwater storage basin<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe Aug. 24 meeting was held with the help of Councilman Henon, Parks and Recreation, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Wissinoming-Civic-Association-860278763985230\/timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wissinoming Civic Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Because the projects are still in the early planning phase, these meetings focused on getting feedback from residents and potential construction start dates aren\u2019t yet available.
