Philadelphia Water<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Join Philadelphia Water\u00a0next\u00a0Saturday, May 14, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/projects\/cliveden_park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cliveden Park<\/a>, located at Chew Ave. and E. Johnson Street in Mt. Airy, from 9 a.m. to noon for a special <a href=\"http:\/\/loveyourpark.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Love Your Park Week<\/a> event with the Friends of Cliveden and <a href=\"http:\/\/fairmountwaterworks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fairmount Water Works<\/a> educators.<\/p>\n<p>We will be cleaning up this gorgeous\u00a0public space and showing off Cliveden\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.temple.edu\/ambler\/csc\/t-vssi\/BMPSurvey\/cliveden.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amazing green stormwater infrastructure<\/a><em>(Sorry, this content is no longer available)<\/em> with a tour exploring how water flows through the park\u2019s unique terraced <a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/green_infrastructure\/tools\/rain_garden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rain gardens<\/a>, nourishing the native plants and soaking naturally into the ground instead of overwhelming Mt. Airy\u2019s sewers.<\/p>\n<p>The event is part of our ongoing <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillywatersheds.org\/5Down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5 Down<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>celebrations highlighting the <a href=\"http:\/\/phl-water.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/webappviewer\/index.html?id=c5d43ba5291441dabbee5573a3f981d2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thousands of new green stormwater tools<\/a> added to Philadelphia neighborhoods through public and private investment during the first five years of the 25-year <em><a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/documents_and_data\/cso_long_term_control_plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green City, Clean Waters<\/a><\/em> program. Working together, the green infrastructure tools now found at hundreds of sites across the city help to keep <strong>over 600 million gallons of polluted water out of our rivers<\/strong> and streams each year.<\/p>\n<p>How big is 600 million gallons? Try to imagine every single one of Philadelphia\u2019s <strong>1.5 million people, all\u00a0carrying 400 one-gallon buckets<\/strong>\u2014that\u2019s how much pollution<a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/documents_and_data\/cso_long_term_control_plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <em>Green City, Clean Waters<\/em><\/a> investments will keep out of our waterways this year! You can get a look at all the green infrastructure created in Philadelphia since <em>Green City, Clean Waters<\/em> launched in 2011 by <a href=\"http:\/\/phl-water.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/webappviewer\/index.html?id=c5d43ba5291441dabbee5573a3f981d2\">visiting our Big Green Map<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillywatersheds.org\/5Down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>5 Down<\/em> <\/a><\/strong>event is a way of thanking partners (like the Friends of Cliveden Park!) who made it possible for us <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsworks.org\/index.php\/local\/healthscience\/89548-water-department-making-green-storm-water-goals-months-early-in-philly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to surpass our 2016 pollution-reduction targets<\/a><em>\u00a0(Sorry, this content is no longer available).<\/em>\u00a0Those goals were defined in an agreement between the City and the Environmental Protection Agency to <strong>eliminate 85 percent of our stormwater pollution volume by 2036<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the rain garden tour and cleanup, we will have <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PhillyH2O\/status\/726403751913906176\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fun rain drop cards<\/a> that let you tell your piece of the<em> Green City, Clean Waters <\/em>story.<br \/>\nFor more information about the event, contact Tiffany Ledesma at <a href=\"mailto:Tiffany.Ledesma@phila.gov\">Tiffany.Ledesma@phila.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We hope you\u2019ll join us to celebrate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillywatersheds.org\/5Down\">five years of cleaner water through greener neighborhoods<\/a> and to learn more about what we have planned for the next 20 years of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/phillywatersheds.org\/what_were_doing\/documents_and_data\/cso_long_term_control_plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green City, Clean Waters<\/a><\/em>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Join Philadelphia Water next Saturday, May 14, at Cliveden Park, located at Chew Ave. and E.
