Philadelphia Water is all about helping people understand the ways in which our lives and communities are intimately connected to the local waterways that sustain us.<\/p>\n

We know\u2014living in a big city like Philadelphia, it can be easy to forget that we\u2019re still a part of a natural world that includes waterways like the Cobbs Creek and Delaware River. Luckily, we have lots of residents who care about nature and want to learn more.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why we\u2019re teaming up with Naturalist Interpreter Dan Kobza of Wild West Philly<\/a> (one of our watershed partnership groups) for a special walk on Saturday, June 25 at the historic Mt. Moriah Cemetery<\/strong>, much of which has been reclaimed by nature. (RSVP for this free event here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Kobza will take interested residents on a tour exploring critters and plants found at Mt. Moriah, and Philadelphia Water\u2019s Dan Schupsky will highlight nearby Green City, Clean Waters <\/a><\/em>infrastructure that\u2019s adding more green space to surrounding neighborhoods and protecting Cobbs Creek<\/a> from stormwater pollution.<\/p>\n

Schupsky, who hosts community meetings in West and Southwest Philadelphia in order to get feedback about Green City, Clean Waters<\/a><\/em> projects, will also give a preview of upcoming green improvements planned for the area.<\/p>\n

Assisting Kobza on the walk will be the Wild West Philly Jr. Stewards<\/a>, high school students from the watershed who are learning urban ecological interpretation so they can serve as local watershed ambassadors and help their community be good stewards for the Darby-Cobbs<\/a>.<\/p>\n
