But to us, <strong>it\u2019s a special example<\/strong> of what green stormwater infrastructure can be as we continue to build <a class=\"semibold\" href=\"https:\/\/phillyh2o.info\/GCCW-Fact-Sheet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Green City, Clean Waters<\/em><\/a> projects across the city.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why we <a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/PAPHILAWATER\/bulletins\/25d8871\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">invited community members<\/a> and local leaders out for a ribbon-cutting celebration on Monday, September 9. Featuring free tap from the <a href=\"https:\/\/pwddev.wpengine.com\/blog\/philly-water-bar-summer-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philly Water Bar<\/a> and two other local staples that count on good water\u2014pretzels and water ice\u2014the fun event drew out kids from the nearby K-8 <a href=\"https:\/\/blaine.philasd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James G. Blaine School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the leadership side, residents got to hear from our Commissioner, <a class=\"semibold\" href=\"https:\/\/pwddev.wpengine.com\/blog\/commissioner-hayman-greets-philly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Randy Hayman<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pahouse.com\/Bullock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State\u00a0Rep. Added up over a year of typical weather, the infrastructure celebrated at the event should soak up enough stormwater to prevent <em>6.7 million gallons<\/em> of sewer overflow that would otherwise impact the Schuylkill.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the local streetscape, this signature site uses a lush rain garden as a gateway to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoveryphila.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently opened Discovery Center<\/a>, drawing in passersby to explore the incredible recreational space.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed center\" style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ribbon cutting for the best <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PhillyH2O?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@PhillyH2O<\/a> stormwater project in the city.
