The Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) is wrapping up a multi-year process to upgrade customer water meters across Philadelphia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 470,000 meters upgraded in Philadelphia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We’ve completed our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) effort. We upgraded customer water meters at every home in Philadelphia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We worked in different areas of the city for about 4 years. Customers received information in the mail about scheduling their upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) staff and contractors handled the meter upgrades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new meter technology sends water usage information over a secure radio signal. This ensures more accurate meter readings and monthly bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meter upgrade process, we tested the material of your service line at the meter for most homes. Learn more about your service line. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new system allows customers to see daily usage online, without calling or waiting for a monthly bill. The data is available through the MyPhillyWaterBill<\/a> e-billing web site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers can receive alerts before <\/strong>leaks result in a high water bill. This feature is available through the MyPhillyWaterBill<\/a> e-billing web site. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
