{"id":986,"date":"2022-02-11T17:53:21","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T22:53:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/water.phila.gov\/stormwater\/?page_id=986"},"modified":"2022-06-15T15:36:42","modified_gmt":"2022-06-15T19:36:42","slug":"green-spaces","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/water.phila.gov\/stormwater\/billing\/green-spaces\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Spaces"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-gray-blue-color has-text-color has-lg-font-size\">PWD recognizes that green spaces contribute to stormwater management and offers discounts and exemptions for parcels that meet certain criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-ls-fwsection alignwide mt0\" id=\"sideyards\"><div class=\"container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Residential&nbsp;Sideyards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-md-font-size\">If you own a lot or garage next to your house,&nbsp;it may be eligible for exemption from stormwater&nbsp;charges&nbsp;as a residential&nbsp;sideyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb0\">To qualify for the residential&nbsp;sideyard&nbsp;exemption,&nbsp;your parcel must&nbsp;be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"mt0 wp-block-list\"><li>Adjacent to your residential parcel&nbsp;<\/li><li>Only used for residential purposes (there cannot be any commercial activity at the site)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Owned by the same legal owner as the residence<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for the&nbsp;sideyard&nbsp;exemption by&nbsp;completing&nbsp;the&nbsp;residential&nbsp;sideyard&nbsp;portion of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/water.phila.gov\/stormwater\/billing\/appeals\/\">Stormwater&nbsp;Appeal form<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-ls-fwsection alignwide has-white-background-color\" id=\"cemeteries\"><div class=\"container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cemeteries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-md-font-size\">Parcels that are used exclusively as cemeteries and are classified as such by the Office of Property Assessment&nbsp;(OPA)&nbsp;are eligible for&nbsp;exemption from stormwater charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for the cemetery exemption using the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/water.phila.gov\/stormwater\/billing\/appeals\/\">Stormwater&nbsp;Appeal form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If&nbsp;the cemetery parcel is used for additional purposes, or if it is not classified as a cemetery by OPA, you may still be eligible for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/water.phila.gov\/stormwater\/incentives\/credits\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"12\">Stormwater&nbsp;Credits<\/a>&nbsp;that may reduce your monthly charge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-ls-fwsection alignwide has-transparent-background-color pb2 mb-1\" id=\"gardens\"><div class=\"container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Gardens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-md-font-size\">Community gardens&nbsp;may be eligible for a 100% discount on their stormwater charges.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image col-12 col-sm-6 col-md-5\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/water.phila.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/aspen-farms-crop.jpg\" alt=\"Aspen Farms Community garden has large plots full of plants, including a few tomatoes ripening in the foreground, separated by grassy paths, and has a larger grass area with picnic tables in front of a mural of a more rural farm.
