Philly Water Bar

The Philly Water Bar is a relationship-building tool and interactive platform that educates and engages the public around Philadelphia’s top-quality tap water.

Developed in response to city-wide annual customer surveys that revealed a large percentage of Philly residents primarily drink bottled water at home, the Philly Water Bar offers a fun, friendly opportunity for PWD to demonstrate the high quality of our city’s tap water, discuss the environmental impacts of single-use plastic bottles, and highlight health and cost-saving benefits of switching to tap consumption.

The Philly Water Bar was created in 2019 by the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), inspired by a similar project pioneered in Minneapolis.

Want to talk tap at your upcoming event? Brought to you by the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), the Philly Water Bar is a relationship-building tool and interactive platform that educates and engages the public around Philadelphia’s phenomenal tap water.

Our outreach team will set up and staff the Water Bar at your events – we’ll bring cups, water jugs, Water Quality Reports, information regarding other PWD programs and more. We don’t bring water with us – the pipes do that already.

  • The Philly Water Bar is not meant to be used as the only/main water source for large events. While we encourage you to serve Philly tap water, our staff is there to educate and engage, not be the only way people can get some hydration!
  • Please submit your request at least three (3) weeks in advance so we have time to prepare staffing and materials.
  • There must be a potable water source on-site – a faucet indoors or spigot outside where we can fill up our water jugs with that fresh, clean, Philly tap water.
  • PWD staff must be able to access and test the water source a week prior to your event.
  • Submitting this form does not guarantee the Philly Water Bar will be available for your event. If the Water Bar is not available, we can refer you to our additional programming, which may include tabling, presenting on water quality, or educational tours.

Philly Water Bar Request Form

We had a great 2023 Philly Water Bar season, engaging with hundreds of people around the tap you can trust!

The Water Bar closes during the fall, winter, and early spring due to cold temperatures and harsher outdoor conditions. During this period submissions will still be reviewed, however, our response time will vary.

Generally, all requests received during this time period will be pushed until the Water Bar re-launches in May 2024. We will consider requests for indoor special events, such as conferences or awards ceremonies.

Thank you for your interest in the Philly Water Bar and we look forward to connecting next year! Until we meet again, please share our latest Water Quality Report with your neighbors.
