Delaware River Festival Brings Free Water Fun, Science to Penn’s Landing

This annual event brings people together and features a day of family-friendly fun, educational activities, and water-centered learning to the Camden and Philadelphia waterfronts.

PHILADELPHIA – End summer with a splash on Saturday, Sept. 9 with the 2023 Delaware River Festival. Penn’s Landing and Wiggins Park will come alive with activities that you won’t want to miss, all in celebration of the beautiful, wild Delaware River.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we’ll have activities for all ages. Goof around with some games. Get colorful with face painting. Ride in a swan boat. Learn lots of fun facts from our many environmental exhibitors and get in touch with your inner art critic by helping to choose the winners of Partnership for the Delaware Estuary’s (PDE) Trash Free Waters art contest. The best part of all, these activities are free!

You can also head to the Independence Seaport Museum to see exhibits and learn more about the waterway that provides drinking water to more than 15 million people across our watershed and beyond. Admission to the museum will be free on the day of the festival, however, there will be fees to go on the ships.

PDE, the Philadelphia Water Department, the Center for Aquatic Sciences, the Independence Seaport Museum, the Alliance for Watershed Education, and other organizations have partnered to plan this magical day along the river. Keep up to date on all the incredible activities we’re planning through the festival’s official website www.DelawareRiverFest.org and through social media by following the handle @DelRivFest.

Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Inc. received financial support from the EPA under an Assistance Agreement to support this work. This project was financed in part by a Federal Coastal Zone Management Grant provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection with funds provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
