This June is a big one for Philadelphia Water.

Green City, Clean Waters—our revolutionary program to drastically reduce stormwater pollution and sewer overflows using green infrastructure—is turning five. That means we're going from proving that we can build green tools that work to building a green infrastructure network that operates on a much bigger scale.

And, as we move to this new phase, we want to hear from you: What has the first five years been like? What do you want to see in the next five years?

Working with private developers and other City departments, we’ve added hundreds of new green spaces to neighborhoods and surpassed our goal of creating 744 “greened acres,” a term used to describe the volume of stormwater runoff from hard, water-repelling surfaces (like roofs and streets) in the city that is now managed with green tools.

As we move forward and look to the next five years, we need to hear from you. Based on our agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency, Green City, Clean Waters is set to nearly triple in size by 2021. We’re going from working out the bugs to full-on implementation. That will mean much cleaner rivers and a lot more green infrastructure in our neighborhoods.

Philadelphia Water is trying to gain insight on what you think about Green City, Clean Waters so far. We are asking you to take a short, five minute survey. You don’t need to be familiar with the plan or green stormwater infrastructure to participate.
