The Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) invites residents to watch a presentation informing the public about drinking water quality and service line materials, including lead plumbing. The info sessions will help residents better understand letters that were mailed to all PWD customers in November 2024 and December 2025. These mandatory notifications provided information about customer-owned service line materials at every property.
PWD representatives will present on the new public Service Line Materials Map, which allows residents to discover what our records show about their service line’s materials. Service lines are the pipes that carry fresh water from the public water main into a customer’s property. On the new map, service lines are categorized as lead, non-lead, galvanized metal, incomplete records, or a combination of those materials.
The presentations will also explore Philadelphia’s efforts to replace lead service lines.
