Employee Recognition

The Philadelphia Water Department’s Employee Recognition Program aims to spotlight the many dedicated public servants in our workforce.

Members of the public and staff from across the department are encouraged to recognize moments of great performance by nominating a PWD employee in one of the following categories:

Public Health & Environmental Stewardship

Recognizes a commitment to PWD’s industry-leading water quality standards and protection of the natural environment surrounding our City’s waterways.

Strategic Vision

Recognizes forward thinkers in the Department who have helped further our mission to be a model water utility.

Commitment to Teamwork

Recognizes our employees’ dedication to each other through collaboration and mentorship.

Citizen-Centered Service

Recognizes PWD employees who, in their work, demonstrate excellence in delivering services that impact water customers and our community.

Ethics & Integrity

Recognizes employees who exhibit a high standard of professionalism and a strong sense of civic duty.

Each quarter, five nominated employees will be selected to receive this award. Nominations can come from fellow employees or from the general public.

A selection committee comprised of employees from across the Department will review nominations and make the selections. Individuals may only receive the award once a year, and may not nominate themselves.

Winners will be the subject of a feature published on the official Water Department website and will receive a free professional headshot, a letter of recognition, and a congratulatory meet-and-greet with Philadelphia Water Commissioner Randy E. Hayman.
