Apprenticeship

PWD operates apprenticeships for several in-demand careers in both the skilled trades and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.

Our apprentices receive both on-the-job and classroom training, along with mentorship from experienced employees, to prepare them for lifelong careers.

Each apprenticeship starts with a 6-month period of temporary employment. After that, apprentices become eligible to promote to a permanent Civil Service title.

Jasmine started at PWD as an Apprentice in the Safety unit. She is pictured here with a big smile, holding the brim of a yellow hard hat worn over her pulled-back dark hair. She is wearing a neon yellow-green safety vest over a white t-shirt and standing in front of a concrete block wall mostly painted tan (the top row visible is painted white).
