Kingsessing, West Philadelphia
56th / Springfield
Overview
The Philadelphia Water Department responded to broken 48-inch water main at 56th and Springfield shortly after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9.
In the days since the water main break, PWD representatives have canvassed the area multiple times to identify any residents that experienced water damage as a result of the break, and our cleanup efforts in the community continue.
The Philadelphia Water Department is currently coordinating efforts with the Philadelphia Gas Works to safely access our broken water main so that we can begin repairs to our infrastructure. PGW anticipates that they have approximately 6 weeks of work to do before PWD can begin and have a full assessment of our replacement needs.
An estimated timeline for completion is not yet available, but we will share that information as soon as it becomes available.
Customers impacted by the main break can find claims forms and a Q&A posted here, and can contact the City of Philadelphia Risk Management Office (215-686-1700) to begin the process.
