Why are we doing this project?

PWD is installing new water pipes that carry water to homes and businesses, to increase service reliability and reduce the chance of breakages. Learn more about Philadelphia's drinking water system →

Drinking water projects help us continue to treat, store, and deliver drinking water. On average, we produce more than 300 million gallons of water a day for Philadelphians. Our drinking water work helps ensure residents and businesses have reliable access to clean, safe drinking water.

PWD is replacing the pipes that carry stormwater and wastewater from homes and businesses to increase service reliability and reduce the chance of sewer back-ups during rain events. Learn more about Philadelphia’s sewer and stormwater services →
