Northeast Philadelphia, Torresdale
Torresdale Treated Water Pump Station Upgrades
Overview
The Torresdale Treated Water Pump Station is getting upgrades to improve water delivery in Northeast Philadelphia. Pump stations help move water through the system. They also maintain water pressure for customers. The Torresdale Pump Station supplies neighborhoods across Northeast Philadelphia with treated drinking water.
The pump station was built in the early 1900s. By the 1950s, its equipment was aging and due for improvements. The pump station was upgraded in 1957 to serve the growing City. Since then, it has had several smaller upgrades to maintain its equipment, but the aging equipment is reaching the end of its useful life. This project modernizes the pump station with new equipment and technology.
We are replacing pumps and electrical systems to improve performance and reliability. The project also includes structural repairs, plumbing improvements, and yard piping upgrades. All work is taking place within the existing site.
All dates are subject to change.
Why are we doing this project?
The last major upgrades to this pump station were in 1957. The equipment is now reaching the end of its useful life. We’re replacing the aging equipment to reduce maintenance costs and increase reliability. Structural repairs to the building will help extend its useful life. This project supports water delivery and water pressure for neighborhoods across Northeast Philadelphia.
