George's Hill Pump Station construction

Current Phase:

Estimated Start:

Winter 2026

Estimated Completion:

Winter 2030

Overview

This project involves building a brand-new facility. We’re building a new pump station at the George’s Hill Reservoir site in West Philadelphia. Pump stations help move drinking water through the system and maintain stable water pressure for customers. Essential equipment, including pumps, pipes, and electrical systems keep water flowing across the city.

George’s Hill Pump Station will support stable water supply to the Belmont High Service Pressure District. It will improve water pressure and reliability for several nearby neighborhoods:

  • Wynnefield Heights
  • Overbrook Farms
  • Overbrook Park
  • Carroll Park

All dates are subject to change.

Why are we doing this project?

Currently, nearby neighborhoods are served by only one pump station. This project will add a second pump station, providing more than one way to deliver drinking water. This ensure that if one part of the system fails, other parts can still provide safe, reliable water to these communities.
