Belmont Water Treatment Plant Upgrades & Expansion
Current Phase: Planning
Overview
The Belmont Water Treatment Plant is being upgraded and expanded. The expansion will provide more treatment capacity for the City. The expansion includes addition of ultraviolet (UV) disinfection.
The upgrades will include replacing an existing storage basin that is near the end of its lifespan. We have storage facilities distributed across the city. They hold water until needed for reliable service and pressure. Storage basins are one type of storage facility.
Upgrading treatment processes at all three of Philadelphia’s water treatment plants will continue the City’s proud history of delivering high-quality water. New equipment will reduce the need for maintenance.
What is the Water Revitalization Plan (WRP)?
The WRP is Philadelphia’s multi-decade plan to strengthen and upgrade essential drinking water infrastructure. From upgraded facilities to new water mains, the WRP will improve our water system. There are dozens of projects included in the WRP which will benefit all neighborhoods across Philadelphia. Learn more about the Water Revitalization Plan –>
