East Park Booster Pump Station Replacement

Current Phase:

Overview

East Park Booster Pump Station Replacement will be a pump station replacement project. Pump stations house pumps, pipes, valves, and electrical equipment. This equipment moves water through our system. This equipment also helps provide reliable drinking water service and pressure to customers.

We built the East Park Booster Pump Station in the 1930s. The existing pumps and electrical equipment are nearing the end of their useful life. The facility is being replaced to continue to deliver safe, reliable drinking water to Philadelphians.

We will build a new station northwest of the current site. The old station will remain in operation during construction. Once the new station is complete, we will transfer the existing pump station to Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.

The new pump station will include an additional pump, which will improve reliability of our operations. The new pump station will also make maintenance more efficient, and ease operations during regular maintenance and emergency conditions.

All dates are subject to change.

Why are we doing this project?

The East Park Booster Pump Station was built nearly 100 years ago. The existing pumps and electrical equipment are nearing the end of their useful life. By replacing this station, we can continue to deliver safe, reliable water to Philadelphia residents now and in the future.
