Northeast Effluent Pump Station
Current Phase: Design
Overview
In order to maintain core services and protect necessary infrastructure, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) will construct a new Effluent Pump Station at the Northeast Water Pollution Control Plant (NEWPCP).
An Effluent Pump Station’s primary function is to take cleaned and treated stormwater & wastewater and move it back out into the river.
This project upgrade will provide critical infrastructure protection and reduce the risk that peak weather events and/or high tide conditions negatively impact this treatment process. PWD’s Pollution Control Plants continue to meet and/or exceed all regulations with regard to treating stormwater & wastewater on behalf of the City of Philadelphia.
This project is part of a FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant.
