East Branch Indian Creek Stream Restoration

Project #50343 East Branch Indian Creek Stream Restoration and Infrastructure Protection will be an ecological restoration project. It will take place along the East Branch Indian Creek near the Overbrook neighborhood.

Overview

We are restoring and protecting the East Branch of Indian Creek in the Overbrook neighborhood.

Ecological Restoration repairs streams and natural areas damaged by past urban development. Restoring these areas makes for cleaner, healthier streams. It also protects important water and sewer systems.

Why We Are Doing This Project

Worsening storms create faster flows in the East Branch Indian Creek that wash away soil, cause trees to fall, and put City infrastructure at risk. We are using restoration tools to make the stream healthier and protect it from future storms. The project will also repair and protect important sewer infrastructure around the creek.

• Pollution reduction: more protected from pollution with upgraded sewer infrastructure

• Native plants and trees: Hundreds of new native plants and trees support pollinators, birds, and wildlife

What to Expect During Construction

Select trees need to be removed while others will be protected. This allows for safety and access during construction. Residents can expect to see crews operating machinery, moving soil and rock around the stream area. Some trails may be temporary closed.

There will not be any interruptions to your drinking water, stormwater, and/or wastewater services as part of this project.
